Mitsuboshi Diamond Industrial Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Settsu, Osaka; President CEO: Masaki Wakabayashi), a company engaged in the development, manufacturing, and sales of precision processing tools and equipment applying diamond technology, is pleased to announce that it will celebrate its 90th anniversary in October 2025.

With the same spirit of challenge that has guided us since our founding, we have expanded our expertise from glass to semiconductors, and on to the energy of the future. A 90-Year Journey and Our Gratitude to Customers and Business Partners
Our 90-year history has been one of challenge and innovation. Our business, which began in 1935 with the manufacturing of a single glass cutter, has undergone a major transformation in response to the demands of the times, driven by our spirit of inquiry to master the core technology of “cutting.”
The most significant turning point was our entry into the Flat Panel Display (FPD) field in the late 1970s. At the time, there was a growing demand for technology to scribe and break the glass substrates of Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) with greater precision and efficiency for products such as electronic calculators. In response, our company developed the world’s first scribing and breaking system for LCD glass substrates, making the leap from a tool manufacturer to an equipment manufacturer. Furthermore, as displays continued to increase in size, we developed our groundbreaking “top and bottom scribing method.” By dramatically improving productivity, we have provided fundamental support for the stable production and widespread adoption of the high-definition displays that are essential to modern society, including large-screen TVs, PC monitors, and today’s smartphones.
Our challenges and growth were only made possible through the support of our customers around the world, who have always demanded high quality and placed their trust in us. We are also deeply grateful to our business partners, who have supplied the high-quality components essential for our innovative equipment and tools and have worked alongside us to solve technical challenges.

Expanding Our Business Domains Toward the Future
Guided by the “unrelenting spirit of inquiry for quality and unwavering spirit of challenge” that we have inherited since our founding, we will continue to contribute to society in new business domains by applying our core technologies as we look toward our 100th anniversary.
1. Contribution to Next-Generation Semiconductor Manufacturing
In the semiconductor field, which is essential for the advancement of Digital Transformation (DX) and Green Transformation (GX), we are expanding our business domain by applying the precision processing technology we have cultivated over many years. Our unique Scribe and Break (SnB) method is a dry process that does not use water, significantly reducing environmental impact while minimizing material loss and achieving high-precision processing.
This technology makes a significant contribution to improving the productivity of next-generation power semiconductors such as Silicon Carbide (SiC), which are key to energy conservation. Our core product, the DIALOGIC series, has already been highly acclaimed by many customers. We are committed to establishing this technology as the new standard in future semiconductor manufacturing.
2. Contribution to the Next-Generation Energy Sector
To help realize a sustainable society, our precision processing technology and Roll-to-Roll (R2R) patterning equipment play a crucial role in the manufacturing process of “perovskite solar cells,” which are gaining attention as a next-generation solar energy solution. We will support the practical application of these new lightweight and flexible solar cells with our patterning technology, thereby accelerating the spread of clean energy.
3. Creation of New Value
Returning to our roots in glass processing technology, we launched a new brand, “OZREE,” in 2024. This new line of glass cutters is designed for glass artists and professionals. Its innovative design and functionality have been highly recognized, earning it the prestigious international design award, the “Red Dot Award: Best of the Best 2025.” By combining the inheritance of traditional techniques with innovation, we will continue to propose new value in manufacturing to society.
Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future and Gratitude to Our Local Communities
Under our corporate philosophy of “Walking While Watching the Future,” we believe it is our mission to contribute to the sustainable development of society through our business activities. We would like to express our profound gratitude for the support we have received from our local communities over the years. This includes the Esaka area of Suita City, where our head office was located for many years, our current headquarters and development base in Settsu City, and all the communities where we operate.
With this gratitude in our hearts, and as a company that continues to grow with the community, we are also focusing on social contribution activities through our business. These include obtaining ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) certification at our Iida Plant and actively promoting industry-academia collaboration with universities and research institutions. By focusing on “the advancement of technology and the development of human resources,” we will continue to move forward with integrity toward our 100th anniversary as a company that grows together with society.
